I assigned “Ctrl P” for the hotkey. I don’t know if that is a problem or really how to check…
I will try switching it to something else.
After further testing I found that it doesn’t matter witch hot key.
And it seems that if I use my tablet and leave the interactive light going for about five seconds it crashes… but if I use the mouse with interactive lighting it does not crash.
This seems to be a tablet issue. I am using a wacom intuos 4. Wonder if anyone else is having this problem.
I am not a very advanced Zbrush user so I am not sure what that script is. I did look at the text file. It looks like all those materials were matcap materials (I think). Interactive light doesn’t do anything when I have matcap materials on.
I tried out some different basic materials and I am still getting the same problem.
If I use the mouse to move the interactive light it does not crash.
If I use the tablet and activate the interactive light for over 5 seconds - as soon as I touch my pen to the tablet it crashes. It crashes every time.
I can always use the mouse… I was just wondering if this was a bug for Zbrush or my system.
I am using an international keyboard and sometimes that causes problems with different programs, but since the mouse works fine I don’t think that is the problems.
I have been trying to reproduce your problem and I am not getting any crashes so I don’t think it’s a problem with ZBrush. Have you tried re-installing your Wacom drivers?
I just tried reinstalling with the latest Wacom driver and got the same problem. I also tried setting the Zbrush setting to one monitor and that wasn’t the problem.
And now it has crashed with the mouse, too. It’s not running out of memeory either I had 12 gigs of free ram when it crashed…
I think in a case like this, it might be wise to start a support ticket. I have never seen anybody else have this problem before. At least none that were posted here.
Maybe this obvious to everyone, but it wasn’t to me.
I updated my Graphics card drivers at Nvidia, but I found an “optional” update in windows updates for my Nvidia graphics card. This was a display update. After updating that, the problem stopped.
Well maybe not. the problem came back when I installed the latest Wacom Drivers 6.3.3-4
But it is not JUST the new Wacom driver because I had uninstalled the Wacom driver and still had the problem until I updated the Nvidia Display driver.
It might even be windows because weird stuff was happening to my tablet after I installed the display driver - pop up keyboard from the tablet (which I never had before with the old driver or new).
After you submitted a ticket, didn’t Pixologic Support come to any conclusions?
Maybe your InteractiveLight plugin got screwed up somehow. I know mine is OK, so I will zip it and upload it here, presuming you are on PC and not Mac. Go to ZBrush 4R4/ZData/Zplugs and move your existing plugin to a temp folder somewhere, then extract the one I uploaded to the ZBrush 4R4/ZData/Zplugs folder.
I wrote support that it was solved - because it WAS working fine. I don’t think it is corrupted because I did get it working, but thanks. I will give it a try.
I have since reopened the ticket.
But I’m not sure how they can help since it’s probably a problem with drivers and programs on my computer - I had uninstalled two programs with GOZ when I got it working. And I don’t really know how to set up my display settings on my Nvidia card (not at an advanced level to trouble shoot three diferent programs and a wacom tablet driver).
And Windows 7 PC tablet settings are pretty labyrinthine. I was getting pop up windows with alt and shift in them and a miniature keyboard popping up all over the place - even in the bottom of different tool windows within programs! (I’ve done all kinds of virus checks, too). At least with the latest wacom driver all those headaches went away.
My tablet nightmares stem from a year ago when I was using an old trust tablet with windows 7. I think it mangled something deep inside of windows… Or maybe I’m being a bit dramatic. But at this point I am not ready to reinstall Windows just to use interactive lighting.
