Crashing When Blurred

Can somebody please tell me why zb crashes when I blur a highpoly model (sometimes it’s not even that high !) and how to prevent it. Does this sound like too little memory allocated for zb ?

what is “blurring a model”

do you mean blurring a mask?

anyway, yes that is a memory issue. To help, you can mask the area you want, and before you blur, hide the extra polygons in the model that aren’t anywhere near the mask, that way Zbrush doesn’t have to calculate a blur across the entire model, just the visible pieces.

Yeah I meant blurring a mask ! Thanks thats been bugging me a lot. I will up my memory allocation. Realy appreciate the help -Thanks again !

I think I had this same problem. For me I believe it was because at a certain subd level it became unstable. I’m guessing it has something to do with polys being overlapped then they get divided. Try smoothing the lower lvl mesh then “reconstrust subdiv”. Worth a try.
