Crashing during ZSpheres.

I’ve started working with Zspheres more and I noticed that when I get near about 20-30 ZSpheres, ZBrush will crash to desktop on me. I tried searching the forum for similar problems but have not found any solution. Is there anything I need to not do while building a mesh with zspheres to prevent it from crashing?

Otherwise, it doesn’t crash at all for me outside of ZSphere stuff.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Heres my specs:
Intel E6400
4GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon 4750 512MB
320GB Seagate HD

Which version of Windows are you running? What plugins have you installed? What are your Preferences>Mem settings?

I’m using Windows 7

Mem Preferences:
Compact Mem: 1400
Doc Undo: 4
Tool Undo: 4
Max Poly Per Mesh: 12
HD Preview Poly: 8

Plugins install: Subtool Master and ZAppLink

Is there a fix to this or anything?

Windows 7 is not released yet, and ZBrush 3 was published well before it even existed.

This is something that we can look at as we work on ZBrush 4, but it’s not something you’re going to see an update for with Z3.

Please submit a ticket at http://support.pixologic.com and provide all necessary information for duplicating the issue.

This also happened to me on Windows Vista x64.

I installed Windows 7 to see if ZBrush would stop crashing on me. It has stopped randomly crashing, now it just crashes when I try to go above a certain ZSphere amount.

I have the same problem. Also, at a certain point, it will zoom out and freeze.
This only happens when creating zspheres.
I have almost the same specs as you, and I was able to do a human skull with a subdivision of 8 with no problem.

The best thing that works for me is:
1: save A Lot. I’m currently doing a figure and after each major change I save.
2: I zoom in small incriments. If it shrinks and the zoom freezes, I simply press draw, move, scale, or rotate once. I am then able to zoom back in, edit what I just did, and then save and continue.
