So as the subject says, crashed and instead of a recovery file, got a .zzz; can anything be done with it? Is there any way to get my data back out of that file? Fortunately this was just a sketch and not for actual work so it’s not a huge loss in that sense, but man, I was having a ball doing something that was coming out really nice, just to have it crash and leave me with a file that I can’t open. I know, I know… someone’s gonna say “save often”. I get it. Most of the time I do because most of the time I’m doing stuff for work where it is a big deal. But this was for me. And it pooped. And it sucks. So… seriously… is there any way at all to get that weird, temp looking .zzz file into something useable? I tried changing the extension to ztl just to see if it would load, and of course, nada. If it’s a loss, well… it’s a loss. But that just sucks.
Probably not. The ZZZ file is a temporary file written by ZBrush before it copies it to the actual file. You could try renaming the file ZTL but I expect that the file write was not completed so it won’t open.
Edit: Ok, see you’ve already tried that and no luck.
Yup.
Ah well… it happens… i still have the design… (cues dramatic 1930’s music… duh duh duuuuh…) IN MY HEAD! Bwahahahahahahaha…
Was worth a shot.
