Crash when open file

Hey! woke up today after a late night of sculpting only to discover that Zbrush crashes when I try to open the file…
The file is quite large (1.5GB) so I’m assuming that has something to do with it. I can open smaller files without a problem.
 The worst thing is that I dont even get an error message, when I try to open my file I just get the windows error sound and then it stops responding.

Please help, I’m desperate!

How are you opening the file?

You could try to load without undo history…

How are you opening the file?

I am opening the file via File>Open.

You could try to load without undo history…

I tried it without success :frowning:

And what happens when you double click the file?

And what happens when you double click the file?

Same thing… starts loading, then the cursor becomes the spinning windows thing and then comes the windows error sound (without an error msg). And it stops responding.

When it stops responding, the zbrush window is still visible?
If yes, have you tried to wait for let’s say a hour or so?

It is visible. No not an hour … I’ll do that. I’ll be back with the result

The waiting did not work…

Sorry mate, but it seems like you lost your work…

Tip:

Never rely solely on project saves (File > Save As). Always save the Tool (Tool > Save As). It is much more reliable. I have never had any problems opening a saved Tool. Also, if you are going to save the project (File > Save As), try to avoid saving the Undo History. Ask yourself, do I really need to save all my Undo’s. I very rarely save the whole project. About the only time I do is when I have settings I want to retain, and that is usually only around render time.
