Crash a lot Zbrush 3.2 Mac OSX

I don´t really no, but my Version crash a lot … !!!

For Example , after I store a MorphTarget and want to use the Morph-Brush to get Back the Information from the Morphtarget… ZBrush crashed !!!

When I scale the Canvas , sometimes ZBrush crashed !!!

Also after a long time working on a Modell … I suddenly lost my X,Y,Z Scale Informationen and it´s written NAN … in the Export Dialogbox ?? And I´m not able to export something …

Is it my Version of 3.2 or what´s up ??? It´s really hard to work with a buggy software when it crashed all the time …

Any Tips … someone ???

Thanks, Tobias

Hello Bloodboy

For the NAN issue. All you have to do is load the original OBJ or a tool before that did not have the issue and write down the scale and offset values from that and put them back on the tool that says NAN. Now when you export it will show up in your other application.

Or if you have subtools with this mesh just go to any of the other subtools to the the scale and offset values and plug them into the subtool that says NAN.

#Thanks A lot Paul that worked fine

Also I got some Problems I don´t know if it´s a bug … but every time I append something to my Maintool … The Canvas seems to gets Empty … But in the SubTool.Menu There are still the appenden Items , what I´m doing wrong ??

What happens if after appending the SubTool you select it in the SubTool menu and then press Edit>Tool Undo?

The same … But I think i get the issue … because i looked also into the exported menu …and there was NAN at all in the MainTool … I changed the values to the original and it works … But why does the NAN Issue happened
a lot ??

Also about the crash issue … I looked around in the menu´s and I saw in ZcriptMenu The Record Button is On … I turned it off … and no Crashes ???
But why is Zcript-Record Button always on when I start Zbrush ??

By the way …could it be that the 3.2 Version is buggy ?? And it would be better to go back to 3.12 or 3.12B But What is about the PlugIns are they working in 3.12 or 3.12B also ??

The Crashes seems gone … but the NAN issus is really strange and disturbing the workflow

No stay on 3.2. Thank you for sharing the recording button result. Can you please keep us posted if you still are getting the crashes.

I’ve got a strange issue with my Zbrush 3.2 (mac) crashing on the very last 1% of any sized render set to “best” quality. It doesn’t seem to matter how large or small the image is… it just doesn’t like the “best” setting… or rather completing the render. Has anyone else had this issue? A search didn’t show to much. I don’t remember having this problem on any other version of Zbrush that I’ve used in the past.

  1. I have less then probably 12 matcaps I’ve loaded in addition to those that ship with 3.2

  2. Tried even with a clean install and still had the same problem.

  3. It makes my renders look so much cooler, so I have to figure something out.

  4. I can render this all out in Maya or Max, but the point was to try to get the exact results I was looking for right out of Zbrush.

  5. I’ve dropped the tool to the canvas, saved as a document, fired up a fresh session, loaded the doc only and rendered getting the same crash at the very end of the render… as if it’s having trouble writing the final file to something possibly?

Appreciate any advice or troubleshooting that can be provided. I can provide files to test with on your version if requested. Thanks.

It would help if you can provide the .ZBR (Document) file. We’d then be able to see if we get the crash on our systems as well, and if so we can see what within the document is causing the issue.

Hi Aurick, thanks for the speedy response! Here’s a copy of one of the documents I’ve created that are giving me trouble. This is very much an early work in progress, but I appreciate the help towards a solution for when it really means something… in another week if all goes well. Thanks in advance.

Aurick,

The NAN bug is kind of annoying because it seems like there are quite a few operations where, if the main tool has slipped into that “NAN state”, operations (merging subtools, etc.) either crash ZBrush 3.2 or cause odd behavior. Sometimes the odd behavior can be undone, other times attempting an undo causes a crash, even though the first operation did not. It also isn’t 100% clear which operations require checking for the NAN state (to avoid potential crash) before executing them, leading to unpleasant surprises.

Will a fix for the NAN problem be in the next Mac ZBrush release?

Also, if that release is still a distance in the future, can we PLEASE get some kind of hotfix in the mean time? Having to continually check and see if the tool’s slipped into the NAN state before many global tool or subtool operations is both disruptive, and easy to forget (leading to data loss if NAN present and ZBrush crashes).

I’m also having MAC 3.2 Zbrush crashing when i use the morph brush. the only time i can use it it is if i shut down the program, reopen the file and DO NO OTHER ACTIONS before i use the morph brush. however, it’s not working in this fashion right now.

i have tried turning off the zscript record but to no avail.
