ZBrushCentral

couple quick questions from total noob.

I am so glad to have finally purchased ZBrush and have been soaking up tutorials, am feeling overwhelmed but I did do some really cool noob stuff earlier in ZBRush.

I have two quick questions:

  1. I saw in a tutorial video how the person doing the video popped up a ball/cage tool that let him rotate his “tool” around. Almost like Maya or 3Ds Max looking. I can only seem to find the buttons on the side to do and wondered if it was standard or some kind of script?

  2. I am REALLY having a hard time creating objects and having them rotated so they sit “ON” the ground plane, every time I try and rotate them “flat” like in the deformations panel, the little X, Y, and Z buttons are REALLY hard to click (Cintiq Companion 13" tablet) and when i try and type in a value I kind of nudge the slider so when i DO get a value in, it seems to add to the nudge value. Is there some kind of plugin or script where I could have better control over just MOVING things around? I am so used to Rhinoceros 3D, it was always so easy to move stuff around so I can actually start sculpting with all the AWESOME tools.

Maybe you were seeing the transpose line?
Get this as it helps. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?161588-quot-Axis-quot-Plugin-for-ZBrush-4r2
Takes a while to fully understand ZBrush and how it works. Stuff can hide and you may get frustrated  Custom UI can help. I posted one. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?172590-Updated-UI Enjoy your journey

That is called the Gyro and is used mainly for 2.5D illustration. http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/2d-illustration/the-gyro/

See ZBrush Illustration - Part 1 by Meats Meier for an good example of it’s usage.

It’s just something you will have to get used to through practice. Regarding sliders, you can try the Nudge Slider Values plugin by Marcus to see if it helps. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?172391-Useful-small-ZScripts-and-Macros-for-ZBrush-4R6&p=1071222&viewfull=1#post1071222

That is a BIG help, at least until I get familiar with navigating and moving things around in ZBrush… at least now I can switch to a sane view when I get everything twisted around.

Thanks!

Thanks again, I downloaded nudge and will give it a try later.

Is there a plugin that will turn the UI into Rhinoceros 3D?
(kidding!)

any advice on figuring out which keys are available to map to something like nudge… it didn’t seem to take the keys I selected but it also didn’t give me any feedback on whether they were already in use or if I wasn’t doing the assign thing right.
