Has anyone else had issues with ZBrush project file failing to load? this seems tto happen again and again. Seems like a bit of a crap shoot saving projects instead of tools, since they randomly just seem to corrupt, and then ya lose a crap ton of work.
Has anyone else run across this?
Thanks
Brad
I believe a lot of people complain about it. I never work with a .zpr until I need to render…in Zbrush…which is vary rare actually. .ztl files are what I use. Never have problems.
Same here. I always use .ztl save. Even if I do save a .zpr, I will still save the tool as a precaution. ZBrush should be able to tell you “You can’t save the file, it’s too big” and not “You can’t open the file, it’s too big”
are you getting any error message?
yes, error has been encountered while trying to load the file loading has been aborted
I have had a lot of them break, in my case I use it all the time as its the only way as far as I know to save 2.5D information. (not that 2.5D is the only reason I use it)
What I do is save things as versions, the problem there is that you can end up with a LOT of files and a heck of a lot of disk space used.
i was having the same problem with this the other day,but i think it was a differetn error message, this is what helped me out
after you get the error message , follow the picture below.

Hello, I’ve just had this problem now. I saved 2 different copies of a .ZPR yesterday and now they wont open. I just get the message
“An Error has been encountered while trying to load the file. Loading has been adorted.”
I checked the file size and this might be the reason. The file is almost 6GB in size. Does anyone know if this is why it wont open and whether there is anything I can do about it? Can I unpack it somehow and retrieve individual tools?
It seemed sensible to ask here but if I should start a new thread please say.
Your file is no longer going to open…ever. I believe after 500mb or so for a .ztl it won’t open. When saving a .zpr you typically will have multiple meshes (.ztl) that all need to get saved. So if you have 8 large meshes you’re probably hitting around 4GB or so. This is the reason I work in single files .ztls until I need to start combining meshes for whatever reason. I still rarely work in .zpr unless I am rendering.
my 2 cents.
