Correct way to adjust displacement map output...

Sometimes when I output my displacement map the fine details don’t show up. Can someone tell me what I do to adjust that? To make the fine details more prominent? What tool, slider, etc…?

there must be a way to adjust the strength of a map output.

Which 3D application are you using it in?

Maya, however it seems to me like it the map itself that is lacking detail. The map , to the eye, visibly, IS lacking the detail. Also when I try and adjust the alpha gain of the maps file node in Maya all I get is a puffed out version of my model. I don’t want to be losing any detail and my maps being produced from ZBrush are barely retaining ANY of the detail.

Is there no settings to adjust this in ZBrush???

Sorry don’t know anything bout Maya. However I Have looked at dips maps before and thought there no detail but it has worked fine.

yeah 32 bit displacement maps has details hidden… I know. the only way I know its not there is cause in Maya I can’t pump up the details with alpha gain.

i get the same problem with normal maps.

so is there no way to adjust the output from ZBRUSH?
