I sculpt for the toy industry and sometimes we get cored model files to make changes on. After I sculpt the changes and import it into the manufacturing software (Freeform) it comes in with either really thin walls or complete holes. Obviously this is not ideal and it takes alot of work to fix it. Is there a trick to make ZBrush not pinch the inside and outside surfaces together but keep them equidistant as you are sculpting?
under BRUSH options check out “auto masking”. There should be something in there that will help…
Thanks for the suggestion. However the auto masking only works if you are adding material not subtracting. Besides it doesn’t keep the walls equidistant from each other.
Actually after working with backface masking, I can kind of fix the model from the inside but it is not consistent in it’s results.
I still need to export an OBJ, import the model into FreeForm and then see what areas are holes and fix them in ZBrush. Then repeat the process of working on it until importing the model has no holes.
