Copying Morph Target [Answered]

Hi there,

my question: is there a way to copy morph targets between e.g. subtools?

The problem: two subtools (with same point/poly number) and different forms.

I know, that it is possible, to export the first subtool as .obj and import it to the second - the problem: the x/y/z-axis of the importet model is changing :frowning:

Any help?

Thanks a lot

Stephan

If the position of the two models is different then you would need to line them up first:

  1. Duplicate the subtool you want to copy.
  2. Align the duplicate to the target subtool. The Tool>Geometry>Position sliders are a good way to do this.
  3. Export an OBJ from the duplicate.
  4. Switch to the target subtool, store a Morph Target and import the OBJ.

Hi Marcus, thanks a lot for your tip.

The thing is, that with the sliders you cannot reach the very exact position.

I found another way, what works perfect, but is a bit complicated and needs another software, in my case Cinema4D, and GoZ:

Requirement: There are two meshes with exactly the same point/poly number, but different shapes. I call them »original« and »target«

  1. Export the original via GoZ to C4D

  2. Delete the original (subtool) in ZBrush

  3. Target mesh: store Morph Target

  4. Export the original back to ZB from C4d

  5. This comes to, that the deleted original reappears again

  6. Delete the original once more

  7. Rename the target mesh with the name of the original

  8. IMPORT the original mesh to the target from the User=>for all users=>pixologic=>GoZProjects=>Default-folder (there you will find a .obj)

This will import the original mesh exactly to the old position. As you stored a Morph Target, now you can switch between the two shapes.

Got it?

Thanks Stephan, I’m glad you found a way to do it, and thanks for sharing.
