Converting 32bit displacement to 16bit

So I may have made a huge mistake.

I’ve been painting some displacements and alphas to in photoshop to apply in zbrush. The problem is, I painted them in 32bit. And now I’m worried that I’m going to get banding because, and correct me if I’m wrong here, zbrush doesn’t support 32bit tifs and I’ll have to convert them to 16bit.

So, is there a way I can tell after I’ve converted them to 16 bit (short of bringing them into zbrush) if banding has occurred?
And what would the most lossless way be of converting them to 16 bit?

Thanks!

You’re unlikely to get banding with 16bit. It’s got enough shades of gray to avoid it. Convert the files in Photoshop and if they look OK there, they should be fine in ZBrush.
