Convering a polysphere model to a smooth mesh model

I like building characters with Zspheres very much but when converting them to mesh by pressing A, the result looks like a very lowpoly, crystal-like mesh as you can see at the image I attached, but when examining the polygons by pressing “Draw Polygon” button you see that it’s a quite highpoly model actually. Smoothing this crystal looking figure then with Smoothing Brush is time consuming.

I wonder if I’m missing a step before converting Zspheres to mesh, such as defining the desired polygon resolution.Zsphere convert.jpg

That is because you are using a Dynameshed preview. In the “Adaptive Skin” subpalette, move “DynaMesh Resolution” slider down to 0.

You don’t convert ZSpheres to a mesh by pressing A. That is just a preview. Clicking “Make Adaptive Skin” converts it to a mesh as a new Tool with the prefix of Skin_.

Thank you zber2, that worked fine for that project.

I have another project with two Zsphere animal models, a scaled cube and a plane. I could convert these Zsphere models to adaptive skin too, and I appended the new meshes to my scene. Then I had to make Polymesh from these meshes for further sculpting, but doing so all meshes at my Subtool palette were deleted except the one I just made Polymesh. What have I done wrong again?kedi köpek mesh.jpg

When you make an adaptive skin (anything with a skin_ prefix), then these skins should automatically be Polymeshes that are ready to be sculpted on.
