Controlling "buldging" along the edges of an imported Maya mesh

I create meshes in Maya and import into ZB as an obj and have decent results sculpting additional details that I need. But the edges of the mesh do not follow the sculpting changes and stay “stuck” in place, causing unwanted “bloating”. My question is what can I so to resolve this- is there some command or feature to allow the edges to better follow the sculpting? I have a feeling its due to the extra edges loops I make in Maya to keep crisp edges, but any advice is appreciated, thank you
