controlling alpha spacing (rivets, etc)?

Hi all,

I know I have seen a tutorial about this, but now I just cant find it anywhere.

So, how do you control the spacing of alpha stamping?

I wanted to use it for creating rivets. I figured out that I can get pretty nice results with just standard brush turning on roll and backtrack (line). The only problem is that I can’t figure out how to change the spacing of those rivets.

Thanks!

Huh, anyone?

Share your wisdom

Interested in the answer to this as I had always assumed that it was just based on the width of the alpha, so if you wanted more/less spacing you had to add/subtract more blank space from the alpha.

I’m pretty sure there’s another way for this.

First I thought, it would be the spacing parameter in stroke, but then I read here somewhere that it’s not used anymore? anyway it’s greyed out.

Backtrack with line is great for drawing rivets, for example with alpha 12, but I’d really like to control the spacing as well, now I’m getting them way too dense.

Hi

Think I have figured this out (I have been trying to do armour rivets too)

If you turn off relative if in the LazyMouse pallette it you can adjust the LazyStep for more / less spacing. If this is not enough if you scale down then it is relative to the model / canvas size.

One thing I found I could not get it to work with Standard brush with an alpha (V strange stretching) but Layer Const + alpha worked fine!

Thanks for the tip!

I quickly tried that out, but I didn’t immediately get it to work, but I need to try again in the weekend when I have more time.

Here’s a screenshot, the big ones are what I made before and the more subtle ones are what I got with relative off - must dig into this more and ask around, it cannot be that difficult because it seems like the kind of thing that many people need.

I’ll post back if I find out more…
