How do I connect rough edges to close wholes? I have been trying zmodeler but keep getting "non symmetrical operation canceled. Once again seems like this should be easie?. I am an hour now watching videos that done help from pixelogic. Helo much appreciated!!Ugghhrough edge.tiff (514.9 KB)
Hello @lee_ballard
Sorry you’re having some problems.
Please upload images directly to the thread in web friendly format like Jpeg or png. You can drag and drop them directly into the text window.
If you are getting the non-symmetrical operation message, then your mesh has become non-symmetrical at least for the purpose of the operation you are trying to achieve. Symmetry becomes more difficult to maintain during low poly modelling operations than with high poly sculpting. I advise working without it during low poly work when possible, and simply mirror and welding (tool > geometry> Modify topology> Mirror and weld) periodically to force symmetry.
There are a number ways to close holes in Zbrush.
-
Tool > geometry> Modify topology> Close Holes
-
Dynamesh will attempt to close any open mesh sectiopns when dynameshing.
-
ZModeler > Edge > Close
-
The Trim brushes will cleanly slice through geometry and close the hole in one operation, though it may fail to work on overly complex geometry.
Remember that any auto-close functionality is limited in how accurately it can close non-planar holes. Deformation will occur if you have it try to close curved or cornered geometry. Always better to perform your cuts in a series of planes rather than a complicated shape.
It may be useful to first use the Zmodeler > Edge > Bridge> Edges function to manually draw geometry across a complex hole and divide it into planar sections that can be more easily closed.
Ok Here is the image again.I have been trying to use zmodeler but as I stated t=i keep getting symmetry error. I will look fro trim brush tutorial.Trying to avoid dynamesh and close holes as it keeps damaging different areas of the model.Thank you rough%20edge|898x513
Not sure if this is a question. I dragged the image to the dialog box.I can film it if you like
I’m not sure what has happened here. It looks like you partially subdivided or re-meshed only a portion of the mesh, and a portion of your mesh is un-welded.
If both meshes are part of the same subtool, you could just send it all through Dynamesh and see if that can fuse everything back together, but there will likely be some cleanup work.
Thank you. I cut a hole in a mesh and things went nutso. When I dynamesh it is destroying the model.
So I keep dynameshing and it is closing holes I dont want it to close and ignores these jaged holes.
