Conan the Barbarian Spoof WIP

Hey everyone!

I need to create a battle scene for one of my finals this semester, so I decided to go with a Conan spoof.

I am mainly looking to spoof the films more so than the comics and novels. I was thinking of pairing epic battles with lots of Arnie screaming

Here are some shots of the model so far:

He’s still very much a WIP, I’m kind of shooting for a cross between Schwarzenegger and Frank Razatta’s work. Please let me know what you think so far!

Will post some more shots shortly

Here’s a quick normal map test in MAX (will work on the SSS map in MAX tomorrow):

I didn’t like the hair, so I am going to see if I can use MAX “hair and fur” without blowing up my PC.

Armor and rigging will be done tomorrow

Please share your feedback!

Here’s one more updated shot of the model with his skin textured and some pllaying around with the skin material. I’m currently in the process of rigging him and hope to move on to the hair soon

And please, if you can find the time to rate this thread, please leave some feedback! It would be far more helpful :frowning:

He is pretty much done, rigged, and has morph targets for the face  I just need to re-render the normals for his hairmesh and work some more on his sword

I don’t think I will have an animatic by tomorrow (even though it is due), but I really needed to invest some serious time in asset creation. Conan is pretty much done.

The Snake is nearing completion, one afternoon and he should be done (I plan on animating him with a spline path).

The environment needs work, but I find that the easiest to fill. Let me know whether you guys like it so far!

Here are some screens of the animation ( I can’t believe this piece is due next Tuesday already!)

I am really scrambling to get things done, and sacrifices had to be made… So the environment is really not as nice as I would have liked…but hey, for two weeks’ worth of work, I feel that it is alright.

i think the blured backround texture makes the overall scene bad ( need something in the backround itself for a feeling there is a existing world).
Or try to fill the scene with Enviroment stuff it looks empty. Also the fire dosnt look like its in the scene for example no lightning up the enviroment looks equal and the character isnt linked with the lightsource of the fire.

The dust should be more appearant.

Thank you for the feedback

I think you are definitely right about those issues… But please, keep in mind that this is only a two week assignment that we had to create from scratch. From modeling to animation (over a minute’s worth).

So I had to compromize somewhere…

no problem its a good start

Wow man you have come a long way! You got a WIP video yet? Wouold love to see the stages of your work.
