Complicated Brush Hair

I’m curious as to how one can create a hairstyle like this. Is fiber mesh used with curves? Any good hair tutorials for something like this?

I would say zclassroom would be a nice start…

Unfortunately it’s not

It is not fibermesh. It is lots of polys with a transparent texture with a group of hairs. There are not shortcuts there and it is quite complicated to do as it needs to simulate complex hair and be real time. Fibermesh would be little help here. There is not a program specific for doing this kind of hair as general programs as Max or Maya are Ok, not Zbrush as you can not see the transparent hairs when manipulating them.

I would say that forgetting real time this kind of hair would not be possible with fibermesh, it is too complex these tight hair shapes for what can do fibermesh.

OK, you’re guiding me in the right direction i think.

So perhaps I could sculpt the hair in ZB and retop in Maya, create the appropriate UV’s according to how I would interweave the hair and create an alpha map?

Indeed it would be time consuming but it would be time well spent i think.

Thanks a lot.

Yes if you want to do a model for games. The hair is done always with this system there.

Normally you do several flat polys with the alpha texture and repeat and deform/curve to create the correct effect. It works better if you can see the transparency at same time you are placing them, an ability that Zbrush doesn’t have.

Awesome. Much obliged.
