Complex mask shape

Hi to all! I need some complex details shape so I want to create a mask with the same shape (sharp curves and corner, straight line and so on).

Which is the best way to do this?

  1. Freehand with lazy mouse
  2. edit a stencil with illustrator and import it
  3. via Zapplink drawing a stencil (I don’t know how to create a mask with Zapplink)

There are other ways?
