combining two .ztl files?

Hi,

I have a mesh that I split into two subtools A and B and saved this 1st .ztl file. I did some more work on one of the subtools A and saved again but had deleted the other subtool B then saved a 2nd .ztl file. What would be the best method to retrieve the subtool from the 1st .ztl file and bring it into the 2nd .ztl file. I would like them to be in the same place relative to each other as before. I have managed to use an insert brush and then having loaded 1st.ztl file using the Insert Sphere but picking the 2nd .ztl with the correct version of A in. I find it hard to align to the original

The only method I can think of is to export both into 3ds max through GoZ or exporting .objs and combining there then re-exporting back through GoZ or saving.

Thanks for any advice.

Can’t you just append the subtool you want?

  1. Load both ZTLs
  2. For the older ZTL, make sure the subtool you want is selected.
  3. Select newer ZTL, press Tool>SubTool>Append and select the subtool from the popup.

I would like them to be in the same place relative to each other as before.

As far as I know, they’ll be at 0,0,0 and you’ll have to align them after import.

Thank you. Got it. New to Zbrush. Finding doing the simplest thing is sometimes hard to find out even with plenty of Googling.
