Combining two meshes

I broke apart a head and body because my old computer couldn’t handle them both being divided. I got a new one and wanted to create one mesh out of the both of them so I can retopoligize and rig it. Is there any way to do this?

Yes - I just went through this process - here is how I handled it:

  1. Let’s say you have two parts of a mesh that are fully sculpted - they are in one ZTool and there are 7 levels of division on each one
  2. Bring in your lowest level mesh that has the desired base mesh polygon set up
  3. Append the target base mesh to the completed ZTool
  4. Place it below in the ZTool order (not sure if this is important, but I always have done this)
  5. Using the Move and standard brushes sculpt the base mesh to roughly the same shape as the projection mesh at the lowest level of geometry
  6. Select the base mesh and create morph target
  7. On the base mesh mask off ALL parts of the mesh that are not included in the sculpted subtool that you wil be projecting from
  8. With the base mesh targeted press project all
  9. Use the morph, move and smooth brushes to correct any wild geometry before moving up a level
  10. Divide the base mesh and repeat (taking the sculpted subtool up one level as well) - repeat all the way up the chain
  11. Change masking as needed and repeat for all other subtool projection

With this method there will be a few places that just might not work right such as ears, mouth, etc., but it is better than starting all over for sure:).
