combining pre-textured subtools

hey, having hard time to find out how to combine pre-textured subtools into one mesh without losing textures. any help would be appriciated

each subtool has its own texture assigned to it, and I want to have them combined into one textured subtool

does each texture take up all of your 0-1 UV space?

Sorry Im probably too noob to know what that means

found this link when I googled 0-1 UV space: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?253049-0-to-1-uv

but Im not sure if I get it right. I understand what 0-1 uv space represents. But not sure how to tell, when it comes to your question

I used FaceGen to generate a face with textures from some photos, and kept modeling it on zbrush to make it look like more. But when I imported the model and its textures to zbrush, I was advised to seperate the eyes and the face out to different subtools and that’s what I did. So, now I have each eye and face as seperate subtools with their own textures

if they each have an actual texture, then they all have their own UVs.
if you want to combine them into one tool, in the “sub tool” palette, expand “merge” and turn on “UV”, then merge down. repeat as needed until they are all merged into one tool.

but know that each part will have it’s own texture. in other words you will have to use 3 textures for that model.
you are only merging the parts, not the UVs.

after they are combined, to make a texture from polypaint or to apply a texture to a section, you have to hide the other parts.

thanks for the help. I will see what I can do

Edit: I tried merging with UV button active, but now when I merge face subtool with eyes, eyes get faces textures on them. Not sure what Im missing

Edit2: Well, I am trying to make the model for colored 3d printing. Im open to any suggestions

your model has more than one set of UVs but zbrush can’t apply a texture more than one part at a time. so you have to apply one texture, then convert it to polypaint. apply the next texture and convert that to polypaint and so on. then when you want to make them back into textures, reverse the process.

apply a texture to a part, then go to “polypaint” and hit “poly paint from texture”. do that for each eye and the head.

thanks a lot for the help! I will try it now
