Colossus and Thor (update on page 3)

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=34840&page=7&pp=15

remember this dude? mr super bad ass himself.
I use a similar technique in my game models.i go through these steps then render to texture then i will overlay a cavity map incase i need a little bit more pop. i find it gives superior results to photograph stamping. and it fully realizes all of teh bueatiful details you labored over in your high res mesh.

by the way lil sister your the first person who has ever inspired me to post i truly loved your characters. super awesome!high.jpg

Hehe, now you have everyone’s attention Lil’sister! The model is getting more awesome with each post, so steady on! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Thanks a lot for the support guys :).
About those hands, yes they need to be redone and the arms textured :o.
That’s funny you mention Balaz I use to work in the same compagny (IO interactive).
I sure have pressure now to finish this model! :D.
As for the polycount I don’t even know since I use displacement but each pieces (the arm, the face and the vest are several million polys in zbrush) but it is a bit irrelevant since it’s not a low-res.
As for procedural textures I’m not sure it would be the way to go for a human but I could be wrong (I guess I need to see an example with a human face)

Merci Phat! (he’s my mentor) :sunglasses:

Gotta check this out.

Ultimate Alliance

WOW LIL SISTER THATS GREAT ,ALTOUGH I THOUGHT THE TOP LIP LOOKED BIT ODD IN THE EARLIER POSTS,I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN U MADE THE HANDS THEY HAD SOLID PIECES INBETWEEN THE FINGERS ,THATS AN INTERESTING METHOD,NEVER OCCURED TO ME BEFORE THANX . Update update update!?!?!?!?!?

Hello Sista’ - great work!
It is very well done, with all the high amount of tiny small details.

A thing that I’ve noticed in such kind of great productions is, that as soon as the color pass is been added on, somehow the magic dissapears.
I hope that I am not 3d-nerdish somehow, because that is not my intention. Its not that I prefer a shaded or wire-model, but I do actually see that somehow the end-result could be a photo. What made me impressed in the first place - and what lately is the only “ingredient” that impresses me - is the special and cool design of the character. That is what I feel dissapears when the color map was added.

If you (or others) agree with me, then I ask you - what could be the reason that it is like that? Maybe there is a lack of a final compositing pass?
(I saw once an article about Underworld2 and how they used Zbrush. The mesh and texture itself wasnt so impressing, but eveyone who saw the movie knows that the end-result was really cool. That was all thank to the compositing pass)

I hope that you understand that I am nothing but giving constructive critique - in fact your work was so good that it encouraged me to say something

Thanks again guys
I wasn’t planning on any updates right away but what the hell a tiny one won’t hurt. started some textures on the arms (still pretty crappy), because it’s the only piece I’m using GUV tile on, I will redo the uvw and a new texture I experimented on the circle thingy with some post effect in max (a bit like in the blur cinematics). The lips are a bit tight (I may open his mouth and show some teeths instead).
Haider_zbrush I think I understand what you mean I almost always prefer statues without paint (collectibles) but at the end I will show an untextured image as well (I don’t mind getting my work critiqued that’s the way to get better).
About the hands I am remaking them to be able to pose them.

Very cool work. I have been watching as this progesses and I am inspired at every turn.

About the lips. Personally I never noticed anything un-natural about them like tightness. Quite oposite i think they’re a perfect match to the rest of the expression. Right now he looks like a solid guy that could stop a fight just by looking at you, perfect for the “guy on a throne” character. It’s a serious and kingly expression thats not too negative or too ‘good guy’.

If you showed some teeth I’d imagine he would look a little more agressive and less noble. That’s just my opinion though, whatever you do in the end will look great im sure.

The circles look much cooler now with that texturing on them too, glad you didnt keep it an simple overexposed blue/white like the art.

A-M

I do not say that often, because I prefer to be constructive in my comments, but halas, here I can’t help myself but say that your Thor is killer stuff.

I’m really looking forward the achieved piece !

Good luck to ya,

Bye !

i thinks that guys in assasin’s creed will be so beautifull .

I just discovered this website. All I can say is WOW! I was searching for some drawings of THOR and this one popped up. I still haven’t found what I’m looking for, but this site is great! If anybody can help direct me, I’d sure appreciate it. I just want a good characiture of Thor for an avatar on another forum that I chat in. Thanks guys!!!

Lil’Sister I think you are very talented! And you work ir outstanding! I wish you success!

Hey, what happened to Thor anyway? Any progress?

Wow the thread is back from the limbs!!!. thanks guys for the last comments I didn’t replied to. I’ve been pretty busy on Assassin’s creed and with my new born daughter it’s been pretty hectic. I was actually planning on changing Thor to an original Norsk mythology character (I started a concept but it’s too rough to show). I will try to work on it asap.
