Colorize and Intensity brushes STILL not working (answered)

Pardon the duplication here. I submitted this on an old thread about this problem (2 years old) 2 years old and I’m not sure its going to surface:

The Colorize and Intensity brush problem goes back to 10/08…Now in ZB4 the Colorize and Intensity brushes STILL aren’t addressed. I would think the development team would have removed them at this point rather then leave them to frustrate new users of Zbrush. Painting with both of these brushes STILL just yields black.

Painting with Colorize and Intensity would be extremely useful for polypainting in Projection Master mode, just like they are in Spotlight. And since Spotlight doesn’t function in Projection Master mode, not having access to these brushes is very disconcerting. Particularly since its a problem acknowledged 2 years ago.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Are these brushes no longer supported and on the way out?

I know there is a “workaround” in using Photoshop, but Photoshop doesn’t come packaged with Zbrush. Purchasers of Zbrush not given the “heads up” that they MUST invest in a program like Photoshop inorder for Zbrush to be fully functional as a 2.5D paint program.

Thanks Marcus…the pain has a subsided a bit now that someone is listening to me vent  . I appreciate the “workaround” tips! (He he, and I’ll add them to my “Big Book of ZBrush workaround procedures” )

At least there’s acknowledgment and others who are sorely missing the colorize brush. Best brush ever, I would come into zbrush with my 2d images just to use that brush. Glad to hear there’s some hope for getting these brushes restored to their former glory. :+1:
