Colored shadows, is it even possible?.

Hey guys, I’ve run into a little problem again. I’d like to change the color of the shadow that is cast in best render mode, it seems now its pure black which creates some unwanted effects at places. So what I would like to do is to color the shadow to be a little more purple.

I see no options in the Light->Shadow that enables me to do this…but it shouldn’t be a hard thing should it?. At first I thought about finding a material that has a slider to control colors of the diffuse curve, and in there I would add purple to the shades.

But then I learned that the shadow that is cast in best render mode seems to severly outpower my fill lighting and I suppose it would do the same to the material, I was however unable to find this kind of material =/, anyone know if there is such a slider?.

Anyways if there is no way to color the shadow I suppose its something I really really would like to see in the next version, it seems like an easy thing to implent?..Now it seems the only way is to go in to Photoshop and manually select colors to make them more purple, with some unreliable results, as I have to make some 100 pieces that must match =/.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t believe that it is possible.

I’ve tried some experiments with the diffuse curve of materials, but nothing that changed the color of the shadow at all.

Yea =/, adjusting the curves does not seem to do much good because when the shadow is laid over an object it seems it takes no consideration to diffuse curves at all…

It seems like such an easy thing tho, and I think it could make a difference in realism aswell, since (atleast I get the impression) that in the real world shadows really are a little blueish-purple…well I suppose I’ll try my luck in Photoshop then.

Thanks for the answer.

Probably your best bet, if you want to do it within ZBrush is to adjust the color curves in the Adjustment sub-menu of the render pallette.

Oh I missed that one, I will check it out. Thanks!.
