Color to texture not working on my model

Hi

I just got zbrush and this is the first thing ive made with it. For some reason when i do color to texture its screwing up the texture on my mesh

It also appears as a little triangle in the texture window all skewed instead of being mapped properly

Here are some pics of the regular model and what happens after i push the color to texture button. I have tried pushing auto UV and it makes the color to texture box like and still skewed but differently.

i want to move on to modeling his body and eyes and teeth. and export him to maya so i can rig the biatch. I ain’t a modeler but i love zbrush :slight_smile:

it appears to be a UV issue. Could you post up an image of your unwrap? also an image of what the color to texture looks like with AUVtiles. That will help us sort out the problem faster.

Hey the first one with the weird triangle is a screen when i just push color to texture
and the second after i push AUVtiles

I really hope i didnt waist all that time texturing him for nothing and have to redo it :frowning:

The first one shows bad UV’s.

The second one shows what AUVTiles should look like. But it also looks like your model has a ton of polygons at the lowest subdivision level. This makes it very hard to get good UV mapping with AUVTiles.

Try this:


  1. Go to level 1 of your model
  2. Create a blank texture that’s 4096x4096 in size
  3. Press Tool>Texture>GUVTiles
  4. Go to the highest level and use the Col>Txr feature
This will give you the best results that I think you’re likely to get under the circumstances.

k so i did wut u said boss and this is what i got

It no longer distorts the texture on the mesh but dosnt look like what i was expecting to be able to export to maya

I know i can save that texture and export it but how will that tiling work in maya it dosnt look unwraped for other 3d softwares
