Color-coding the brush icons ? (answered)

Hi guys,
Is it possible to change the brush icons with colored ones?
I’ve tried using the “SelectIcon” option and I was hoping I can
organize the brush icons by coloring them, but zbrush discards the
color information and still brings them in grayscale.
Do someone know if there is a workaround? Notice that the 2,5D brushes are colored.

I’ve attached an example of what I’m trying to do.

That’s a nice idea but I don’t know of any way of implementing it, sorry.

Thank you, Marcus, too bad it can’t be done.

I like this idea too, CodeFather. It’d be nice to have some more obvious visual clues to help organize all those brushes

I agree with the other comments. With the large number of 3D brushes in ZB4, some sort of additional visual clue, as color, would be really welcomed. I hope that the elegant solution of Codefather can be actually implemented.

lovely idea! fingers crossed pixo spot this and maybe it can happen in the future!

Is there a way to extract the existing icon from a brush in full 96 x 96 resolution so that it can be modified and reassigned to the brush?

If so, it might work to (a) modify the VALUE of the icon’s background or (b) add some kind of small, corner letter or symbol (like the arrow on shortcut icons) to indicate brush class-type on the icon.

In the long run, I think tint-color-coding would be the clearest indicator - hoping for such an option in the 4.? update…

Having the ability to color brush icon will be a great feature!

And is possible to in a future a brush with random alphas changing when sculpt? thx all artists and Pixologic team!

Ooooh DUUUUDE that would be awesome. Please, Pixo-gods?

I was thinking of this too, I’ve attached an image of what I come up with so far.
Another possible variant is © create more recognizable set of icons for all of the brushes. Right now all of them are spheres which look all the same.
