as neat as this might be. im not sure how well it would be recieved.
the reason i say this is because the current zscript system thats in place lets you see how other artists do things. zbrush automatically gives you notes on the tools used, and makes the creation for you, showing the workflow… etc.

in the case of a level intermediaire or advanced, you have entire reason Ambient-Whisper, but for a level more beginning I think that video can nevertheless be more speaking, in the direction or you can add audio comments and possibly use an external application (photoshop for example). Let us add to that that it is more practical in the event of learning, to have video on side and Zbrush of the other to work, impossible thing with Zscripts.

You put together Video with Audio with different projects and exercises to go thru and that my friends is POWER LEARNING!

:+1:

Doing tutorials for money in Zbrush is going to be a very risky business. Like Ambient has pointed out, Zscript’s are a big part of what Zbrush is, and it would be supremely easy for everyone to make a quick Zscript of whatever tutorial you are planning on making.

But Bill brings up a pretty good idea. If you could focus on something that is Project based, and not just a simple Zscript, that may have potential for working. You might have to think of ways to make your Zscripts only usable with your tutorials, like maybe having to have certain files in order to run the script. But it could be done, I think.

But in all reality, I don’t think it will be a very profitable business. Unless people cannot learn by watching Zscripts.

I have to say that I’m interested in Chris’s DVD’s. I have a set already. Zscripts are cool, and work, but there is no pause, rewind or voice explanations. Chris is very good at what he does IMO, and I think they would do it justice, and would be a fine learning addition.
There are a lot of areas that need to be covered in Zbrush as well that could use some extensive explanations. I think a lot of people are interested in a better understanding of how Weta used it in LOTR, and I’m one of them. He can also bring it into an outside app (which I have yet to see in the few zscripts I’ve been going through) such as Maya, and put it all together which would be really cool. In addition the whole zsphere modeling is a little tricky at times. a voice telling what’s what, and what not to do to loose your bearing on your x-axis while modeling 2 mirroring hands would be nice. I’m just learning it now, but I always seem to get my mirrored z pointer off axis, and my models get a little funky. [note] Actually I was hoping zbrush could mirror more like LIghtwave does in Z2, or a Z2.01 update. just a thought  Either way. The more options a new user has on learning this application is just one more way to make it look like an attractive purchase to a new buyer, or a struggling user.
I don’t see how it could hurt regardless.

I agree with wierdPal.

Especially if the DVD would contain REAL WORLD experience type of projects that the student could work on from start to finish.

I Don’t know if I have false reading the new features of Zb2, but it’s seems that audio are now possible with scripts

And any case (outside Zb) everybody can makes a video tutoring on anything with the “real time saving screen” progs + loading a comment after on the sound tracks
Pilou

i have investigate zScript as a small part of the dvd deliverables. i think experience and reality are things zscript cant pick up.

stand by for the next move on cmi’s part.

do you have any on worldbuilding
see here

All apologies

but thats like saying that teachers shouldnt get paid. isnt it?
i think for this to actually succeed, you would need to do something that zbrush currently doesnt to on its own.

for example. if Dave Cardwell made a dvd on how he makes a model from the ground up ( including zscripts of the process/ notes, and voice over…, how many would pay to see his workflow? i know i would

Hear hear! So would I!! :+1:

I think something along the lines of the Gnomon Studio analog DVD training series would be an exceptional value for ZBrush. Sort of like showcasing in detail with accompanying support material how one would use ZBrush in the “real world” to get the job done.

All apologies

Hi all,
it’s difficult to me understand some of the posts here…cmiStudios ask for someone who want to partecipate or want to learn from some Zvideo.
Maybe someone will buy their future product, or maybe not…but, why not video?
I thing each idea of tutorial will help some people…novice, expert, grandmaster, each of us has something to learn.
I hope someone will help cmiStudios…i can’t…because i am not an expert and i have no time.
Frenchy: Camtasia2 allow to record “real time video” with your “real time voice”…it’s fantastic.

cameyo

Never.I mean never.Refuse to learn.Yes please make the DVD.But i would only buy if it includes Zsphere modelling techniques related to skins and such. they havce to be well done. And they must take the complete noob into account, but not leave things out just because a noob is watching. jeff lew put out a DVD on animation that is so well done.i think one has to do a DVD with style.I have many cdss and dvds for instruction. And the ones where the guy talks like hes assleep put me to sleep as well. What will you bring to a DVD.i would wait till Z version 2 comes out and include the displacement mapping, and zspheres in it. Then i would definitely buy.

Wo Pilou you said “audio”. Holy bajeebers.Hey by the way what do i do when Z 2 comes out. how do we upgrade.is it a file or something.Duh.

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> how one would use ZBrush in the “real world” to get the job done. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

That would be the way to go! Useful “real world” practical stuff. And a GOOD SOLID intro on how ZBrush works to help beginners start “thinking the ZBrush way” and get productive a lot sooner.

Please! if you produce these DVDs you must put an emphasis on modelling with zspheres.i still dont understand about the skins. In fact you could have a DVD solely on Zsphere modelling and texturing perhaps. But Zspheres are a fundamental part of this program.

Hey whats real world to you may be nonsense to the next guy. Emphasis must be put on zspheres.I bought the product so i could sculpt(not much yet).most people bought this product to do two things.Paint and sculpt( period).i cant emphasize enough that if it addresses zspheres , skins, and perhaps displacement(in a substantial way) I would buy in a minute. But please if your going to make the typical teaser-send me more money DVD then forget it.Like the VTC series. What crap. They make a video tut that just skims the surface leaving vacuum in the brain.
