Clothes - double sided???

hey everybody!
I have an important question, and i never figured it out!
When doing clothes on a model - and i mean modelling the base cloth in
Maya - really simple and importing it to zBrush - do you give the cloth “thickness” in
Maya? May porblem ist, when i move the cloth etc in zBrush, the “backside” alswas interupts or comes
in the way etc…

Thanks, Bernhard

Why don’t you mask and use extract in ZBrush to make the clothes?

would be a way too i guess… but again - how do you come to width?

Just look at this picture above (and it ist NOT MY PICTURE!)!
Just for en example. all the clothes have the thickness to them… but were the clothes sculpet with thickness? or was the thickness kind of the last step et the en?

Not specifically answering your question, but if ou do have some thickness, and the other side comes through when you are sculpting, it’s because you need to turn on Back Face Masking in the auto masking part of the brush settings.

Something else to consider if you are doing your base meshes in Maya is, and this is a general rule… If you’re are never going to see it, why bother modelling it. Why burden your mesh with polygons that will never be seen. You can give the illusion of thickness without actually having thicnkness. To use a real world example, it would be like a hem on clothes.

How would you do such a thing for example?

Yes, that’s an interesting question for me too. I also don’t know how to make such collars.
