clay tubes issue?

Alright im still relatively new to zbrush and see almost everyone uses clay tubes to build up their form…

however when i use clay tubes it seems to just push the topology around and not build up, and on top of that it sees to refuse to work in certain places on the model… it works the way i see in videos when filling in a hole or gap but not say on the top of the head or tip of the nose…

so am I just using it incorrectly? or do i need to change a setting or something?

any help would be greatly appreciated
thanx

there are a lot of different clay brushes now.

with clay tubes it requires a lot of strokes
with clay build up the harder you press, the more “clay” is put down.

I’m not sure what you mean with the not working right part. could you explain a little more or show images?

thanks for the reply, i still need to get my tablet, so im not dealing too much with pressure sensitivity right now

but i guess the “not working” part seems to be more that the clay tubes doesnt want to follow the contours of my model, so lets say i start in a valley and move towards a peak, it doesnt add anything to the peak even though it was part of the stroke… does that make sense?

yep. As far as I know that is how the clay and clay tubes brushes have always worked…but I could be wrong on that one. I personally didn’t notice any difference between the last couple of updates and how the clay brushes work.

thanks for the feed back goast, i found that if i change the imbed depth to 2 or 3 as opposed to 0 it works the way i was expecting it too
