Cinoklu Sketchbook

Hi all, I am posting my first completed sculpt. I am still a beginner in 3d Art and zbrush so please comment whether you like or not. I would really like your feedback on where I could improve my skills (if I have any  )

The Model is taken from a sketch I found on the net.

Ha Awesome! He looks like Gandhi.

The only thing i would say is that its very stylized and i like that, but his beard doesn’t follow that style. I think you should Zbrush it. Just a thought. Good stuff though, love the concept.

And here are some updates of the next character Bert the chubby dragon  Bertinu.jpg

Let me start out with the good, you really got the overall shapes right, you definitely got an eye for that
But with that said, you need to spend a lot more time refining the shapes. What I think you need to do is slow down a little, from looking at your models, my guess would be that you jump very quickly on to the high polygon levels.

If that is a case, I think a lot could be gained if you took it a little more step by step, and started at the low subd levels for the major details, and slowly progressed on to the higher subds for the fine details and refining of the shapes.
What you got right now is some very bumby, not very natural look shapes/muscles skin folds etc., I believe that a lot of this could be fixed if you sat down and looked at some reference, and tried to think through, how does a skin fold look, what makes it look like it does, where are the underlying muscles etc. And I would properly even suggest trying to draw it.

Hope you can use some of this
Like I said, I really think you got the over all shapes down really well, and it would be sweet to see you take these models all the way.

Keep it up mate

Hi Storm, I really appreciate your comments and you are perfectly right. the concept art I’m basing this creature on , is this: Dragon_with_little_wings_by_imaginism.jpg

Please comment on my future work in the future, I find it very helpful since
I am trying to teach myself everything :).

Cheers

Huge improvement!
This looks really good, great work

your renders of bert are looking awesome man! i love em! how did u paint all the individual scale type things on him red and the skin blue? did u use an alpha or wat? :+1:

Yeah this dragon is awesome! Love the style and texture! The lighting could use some work so we could see more of that great detail, maybe put a Subsurface Scatter material on him so the light can go through his skin at the wings… That would add a ton on the whole look! Also a softer, lighter background could make it pop a bit more!
Great work overall! Keep it up! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Thanks for the nice comments.
Phrost : For coloring the scales I used masking by cavity and just tweak around with the settings.
Meletis : thanks, I took your advice and lit a little bit more the scene in the final renders.

Storm : thanks for your comments. I really like your work too. really appreciate your tips.

hope you like the final Renders
