Hi, saw this new plugin ( youtube), for C4D20, or 21 to Zbrush, does anyone know the viability of this,? is it safe to use?,
Hello Craig.
C4d20 is still not officially supported by GoZ to the best of my knowledge. Any plugin would be third party, and used at your own risk.
In my personal experience, and in no way an endorsement of whatever plug-in you’re looking at, if downloaded from a reputable source (not a random link) and vouched for by other C4d users, it’s probably safe to use. This, of course, doesn’t mean it will work correctly.
As always, the best source for information about what works for C4D are resources dedicated to that application, and other C4D users. You should contact the author of the plug-in regarding any issues with its use.
Good luck!
thank you,
Hi Craig,
this is not a new Plugin for C4D.
This is the Python Script from Valkaari and it works in C4D R20.

I didn’t check it for C4D R21 at the moment, may you could do it by yourself.

Thank you for the enlightenment, I too, saw this on youtube, impossible to keep up with all things digital ;), I do appreciate it, Best, Craig
So its been a year since R20 and there is still no GoZ :(?
The PlugIn from Valkaari doesn’t really work as soon as you try to handle multiple objects?
Merging and splitting them up again doesn’t work as well.
Anyone found a solution or is there any info for the future? Its so frustrating.
So many new features in ZBrush AND C4D and I feel like I was faster 2 years ago…
Have you tried just to import/export one model at a time? perhaps you’ve had, not trying to be snark, but maybe worth a try?
Hey Craig!
What do you mean by that specifically?
If I just have one object in ZBrush and just one object in Cinema 4D and then merge it there it works most of the time.
But thats rare I almsot always have multiple objects. I mostly jump to C4D for a quick asset creation because my poly modeling is just faster than shadowbox, zmodelerer and so on.
I then want this created asset in my scene. Then jumping to another part of my sculpt adding another asset and so on and so forth.
Or did I get you wrong?
Hi, sorry, I was not clear enough. Please try ,( cant find your original question), try saving each model , in C4D as a obj in it’s own file. Then, if your Zbrush model, has for example, 10 subtools, each subtool is imported into Zbrush from it’s own C4D file, then you have imported 10 obj files from it’s C4D creation. Then you can chose between, importing into Zbrush, each obj individually, to it’s own Zbrush file, or into on scene in Zbrush with 10 obj subtools. If this is not clear, please let me know, Craig
Hi Craig,
thanks for the explanation but that seems quite cumbersome.
I just managed to make it work with the PlugIn from Valkaari and R21.
Its really important to follow a certain sequence.
The Plugin has two Buttons. Export and Import from ZBrush
In ZBrush you have the GoZ Button.
In order for it to work with different objects I had to understand how these work with each other.
-
In ZBrush you kind of mark the object you want to export when you press the GoZ botton. At this point nothing happens it seems but the “object ID” got stored.
-
In Cinema 4D you can now press import from ZBrush and the object will appear.
-
When you create a new object in C4D you use “Export to ZBrush”. It will be added inside your tools. You can now append this obect to your scene. After you tweaked that object press GoZ to “mark” it for export and then press “Import from ZBrush” inside of C4D.
-
You can now switch to another subtool press GoZ to mark it for export and then push “Import from ZBrush” inside of C4D to import it.
It finally works! Woooohooooo!
Thank yo for this!-CZ
You are welcome
Sorry for digging out this old thread
Maxon announced for the current C4D S22 (S stand for subscription) version that they implemented GoZ again.
Unfortunately this is not available for the regular C4D R21 version but will be latest available for the R22 too later in this year.
CU and have a great day
thx, you too, stay safe
