I think I’m going to end up tryin a bit of a mix of A and B for the hair - I still really like the shape and straightness of B - but I think I might try to lengthen it a bit and possibly just have a little waviness at the ends… but my personal preference tends to be towards straighter hair… hehe - but to each their own - right!?
Anyways - here’s an update on the texturing side of things…
There’s some stuff to the modeling i want to address also tho - cuz the eye shape is bugging me - need to finish that off and also the ears…

Ahem!..that aside, I kinda like hairstyle “A” though I was also wondering why not pushing the volume and the culrs of her hair a bit more?.. I’m honestly not too sure about giving her straight and shorter hair…I’m afraid that might ephatize the Eva Mendezsque “nose” a bit too much.

Hair in 3d is a pain. One thing I try to do is to make broad flat strokes first to identify layers, flows and clusters of hair. Then I move onto the smaller strands for the details.
Hope this helps a little.
She’s looking real nice. If I ever develop a taste for bald women then I know it’s time to get out of doing CG! I’m not too sure about the colour of the eyes, but I think that’s more personal preference. Do you have any bump going on in the eye itself? Normally helps to break up the highlights and reflections. What are you gonna use to do the hair?

Captain Sensible - thanks dude… lol - yea - i think about the point when you start seeing topology on people and wondering what mental ray settings reality was rendered in - that’s when you really gotta get worried and turn off the computer and go outside! Exchange the monitor tan for a real tan… haha.
Haven’t done the bump for the eyes yet - but yea - i usually do that too - still have some more work I wanna do with the eyes…
The hair - I’m planning on just using Maya Paint Effects Hair - looks pretty good rendered in mentalray in 2009 - so I’ll try that…

Ok - thanks for the comments guys - I really appreciate it… I’ll be gone for the week - volunteering at a youth camp - so no updates till after then most likely… but I am lookin forward to the break from 3d… altho i dunno if working with youths these days really qualifies as a break! haha… but it’s something to keep ya young at heart i guess!! lol.

Ok - so I’m back now - just finished up the base meshes for the mechanical parts - just about to bring them into zbrush for some detailing - then I gotta get started on the game rez mesh and normal mapping…

Design looking good, feels functional rather than just being a pile of detail that would not actually move or work, its fairly convincing design.
I think the head is too small and the abdomen area a tad bit too long. Everything else looks awesome. Is this the character that you did for the Action Hero challenge?
