Chindian's 3D Sketch & WIP Thread

KrakenCMT - Thanks man!

Webhead - thanks… yep workin on it now…

sgrell - No - all the modeling for the hardbody stuff is in XSI.

Captain Sensible - thanks - the arm rotates from the inside of the forearm - just above the wrist - kinda like on the starcraft marine.

dustbin1_uk - thanks!

nightwalker_j - Thanks Matt - fat guy is photo textures mainly… done with zapplink

Here’s a small update - been having to refine the model as I go because of interpenetration issues, etc… so it’s been alot of modeling - test rigging and changing… but it’s coming along… hoping to get the majority of it done this weekend.

Here’s a shot of him with the pants and accessories, etc…

Looking forward to your feedback as usual and thanks to all ur comments so far!
Best,

Looking great! :+1: !

Whoa. Thats some upgrade his got going. Nice job on the design :+1:

Hey man! The arm is looking great. Are you going to put some cables, wires, and such in it?

This may be me but one thing I see is that the fingers look a little bit much in details and doesn’t quite fit aesthetically with the rest of the arm.

Can see the where it rotates at the back now. He’s coming along nicely. Keep it up! :+1:

looking nice so far.

hope to see it finished

Etcher - thanks man! :+1:

brettSinclair - thanks man - glad u’re liking it… mech modeling really isn’t my forte in my opinion - so i was a bit worried the design wouldn’t be as appealing… hehe

nightwalker_j - hey Matt - yep - i’ll be doin a detail pass later once i get the bulk work done…

Captain Sensible - thanks.

Dealer2Couleurs - thanks - should be finishing up soon I hope!

Ok - did some more work on the arm… gonna start working on the back this week…

Looking forward to your responses…

woot! wicked arm buddy

Hey Thad!..congrats for the first page!
this is turning out to be pretty bad ass!..I really like the design for the mechanical fingers you’ve come up with and the metal parts that go around the muscles of his forearm seem to work pretty well!..however I have some doubts about that piston who seem to be attached where the bicept muscle is…somehow its design does not convince me much…I think it might be becuse of the fact that the piston, together with the screws and the latchet appear to be put together from scrap parts, whereas the glove, the fingers and the shoulder parts give off the impression of being custom build for the creature’s arm.
Does that make sense?.. mmhh…perhaps THAT was your intention to begin with?..if not you might want to check out Oscar Chichoni’s artwork

…an argentine illustrator who I think does an excellent job in mixing organic and mechanical design.
I hope this might be useful to you. Looking forward to your next update dude!

Looking good dude!! Arm looks ace, great work there, looking forward to see how the back develops.:+1:

Awesome again! I thought you said mechanical modeling wasn’t your strong point? Looks pretty good to me! I would just say that strip of metal holding the piston to his bicep doesn’t look strong enough to hold it in place.

Yeah its starting to look really good man. Whats your inspiration for your parts?

i like it very much man, only that piston… doesn t look like in a big fight would be very useful besides that is looking great

Yeah man!! he’s looking great!!! Keep going!!

Am3D - thanks!

Felice’sWorkshop - Hey linguini hair… umm - i mean Felice… lol… wasup buddy! - Frontpage?? Where? lol… Anyways - yea - i get wut u’re sayin with the arm… thanks for the critique!

spimmy - thanks! workin on that now…

Captain Sensible - lol - it isn’t that’s why i’m doin this… to hopefully get better… thanks for the input!!

nightwalker_j - Thanks Matt - just been grabbing random ref from all over… starcraft, bionic commando, etc… but pretty much just kinda start out blockin shapes i like and patch model it… then refine…

omarfernandes - thanks - yep - seems like that’s the general consensus… hehe

dustbin1_uk - thanks - i will!

Ok - thanks everyone for the input!! I really appreciate it - and i think everyone will be happy to hear i took out the piston from the arm design… so that’s gone… I’m currently workin on the back pieces, etc… I’ll have an update up by tonight…

In the mean time - i’ve been trying to finish off a bust i started a while back… I need your opinions on hairstyles… So far I like B the best…

Actually I quite like hairstyle A. We obviously have very different tastes  Style B seems a little simple and flat. Something about the waviness in the first one appeals to me better.

for me, i like A. i love curly hair.even a bit of curly.its more dynamic

B fits better to her.

shorter hair than B. pixie like…but not guy short.

She has a classic look maybe a bit harsh - so I’d go for C.

looking forward to see more…

Klaus
