Chimz Sketchbook

Hello Chimz. I like the ideas of their models. Just think you should have a little more attention to landmarks bones, as FourtyNights said. Good luck.

@dangov Good start! I could tell it was a kangeroo straight away so you’re heading in the right direction. The render is pretty nice too. You just need to start working on your initial forms a little further. Did you use any references for this?
I like the concept of it being a rocking chair.

@JonatanNunes Thank you. Yes, I shall try and work on this a little more with each sculpt I do. I always appreciate the feedback.

I did a little more on this sculpt today. Just half an hour experimenting.

Thank you for the encouraging words. Yes I did use a reference but after I was done I modified the base form I bit in order to resemble a rocking chair. It’s actually my first render in Keyshot. And you are right, I need to work on my shapes and forms.
I like your latest sculpt. Simple but smooth nice lines. Did you use zspheres?

@Dangov Nope, no ZSpheres for this. Just began with a 3D sphere then used dynamesh to pull out the forms I wanted.
Thanks for the feedback again.

Here’s an update from today.

Posing the character now, before taking further.

Hi everyone. Here’s an update on my progress with the Squirrel Nutkin piece.
My goal with this, is to sculpt and create every single element in the scene only using ZBrush and no other external 3D software. Also, I wanted to broaden my knowledge even further
of using Fibermesh by creating a character that is completely covered in fur.

Interesting little project. Some crits:

  • The hair on the tail of the squirrel could be more uniformly spread out towards the tip

  • Leaves on the tree could have more random but nice curvature. Right now they just have too duplicated look on them, and they’re sticking out straight, boringly

Thanks for feedback as always. I agree on both points. I’m not completely happy with the tail how it is at the moment so I was thinking of starting it again from scratch in respects to the fibermesh work.
I believe I may have figured out a better way to do it now as I’ve learnt more about the fibermesh pipeline during this project.

As for the leaves, I want to finishing placing them all first and then go in and bend them after I’m pleased with the placement, because at the moment I am working on some ivy that is wrapped around the tree branch which also has
some leaves on it and I thought it might be best to get that chunk of work over with in one go, as it’s quite time consuming and a bit fiddly.

Calling this fella done now. It was a lot of fun making him.
