Characters: Stone Cold

Hey Z peeps,

I wanted to share a series I started to mess around in Zbrush with, a bunch of characters all created from the same zsphere model. After building the original zsphere guy, I simply reposed it and exported it with different intersection resolution and membrane curvature settings, low numbers of course for the rock guys, and high for the smooth ones. The snow is just a plane3D on it’s own layer and “dug into” with a sphere brush set to zcut.
I won’t post them all at once, I don’t like being a hog of the main image bar…
These scenes are just messing around, but I do love feedback, both good and bad…

Mean Kids

neat material-effects and great story-pictures :+1:

very unique characters. I think the image turned otu very well. The snowy floor is a very nice touch.

great cubic stone and snow effect, different from your wire images.cant wait till you do some with zspheres :+1: :+1: :grimacing:

Cubical against softness

I agree. Great stuff meats. The snow is excellent! Half tools maybe?

Thanks Jaycephus, Ron, Pilou, Gary, and Mahlikus.

Gary - this image is actually created with zspheres

Mahlikus - thanks - I’m not sure what you mean by half tools?

Here are a couple more:

Oop…Sorry man. blush
Half tools = Any/all 2.5D type tools like:
Snakehook, bump brush, alpha brush, simple brush, singlelayer brush.

Those are kickin too. I really like the stacks image. Haven’t seen too many cubical skinned models in image. Especially well done at that. :+1:

Hi Meats, these are wonderful characters. A very unusual concept. Makes me thing of stop-motion models. 50.

Stone Mechs…primitive style…very kewl…I really like the last one.

I love the last one too. I wonder what happens when they fight, what happens to the ‘mind-men’ as their ‘steeds’ knock each other into rocks. They run off a find something else to jump on? I don’t like this mind/body duality idea much, in my view we’re all one bit of meat, or rock… hmm, anyway

I’m so impressed by your stuff. bravo!

edit

How about these boys here have a projector contraption on they’re shoulders so that they can generate they’re own minds. Maybe I shouldn’t be bringing that up, it nods toward the colder truth that many deny themselves. ack well. Nice one Meats, you certainly got me thinking again.

this is some pretty grouse work, it reminds me of some of the facless clay characters that feature in alot of music videos for tool. the fact that they can express som much character and emotion without having faces deserves a pat on the back.

Woah,
You are already cranking out masterpieces!
I like them all but the first one really works for me!! Love the use of colors and storytelling with imagery!
Great show man,
Best regards,
Michael

Very good. Comical scenes are nice to see in ZBrush. So do you have names for these newly Z-creations?

reminds me of a tool video

since this was posted i never missed to have a look at the thread during my mini-visits here, but always missed to post my kudos, Meats, so here they are  what a strange world you are taking us to! :+1: :+1: :+1: and so on!
