Character modeling

Hello, Im new to player modeling and sculpting too. I was curious, when sculpting a character with clothing, do you sculpt the clothing on the character or add it in through a program such as 3Ds Max?

There are many ways it can be done in ZBrush. Mask/Extract, Group Loops, Topo Brush to name but a few.

If the clothing is really tight or I’m doing more of a concept sculpt then I tend to sculpt the clothing directly into the model, otherwise I prefer to work on separate subtools. Certain kinds of clothing I may model or edit externally (usually when collars are involved), while other types of clothing are easy enough to extract from whatever basemesh I’m working on.
