Finally got some time to come back to this character. There’s some problems with the muscle groups/anatomy that I don’t like and I’ll need to change that.
I am using the material setup by Mahlikus The Black in his lighting vault post
Open to crits and comments…

today’s update…

Will hopefully have some more tomorrow night. Just roughed out a lot of the muscle anatomy for the legs, worked on the hands a bit and just skipped around here and there. Really didn’t hit my stride until the end and now I gotta go.
Oh well…
I’m surprised you havent had any comments in all this time… your progress is coming along great, keep it up
yeah, pretty good anatomy. I liked the eyebrows-and-up part
Hey guys, thanks for the posts and comments. I will probably be taking the week off from him due to a lot going on in my off time from work. Will be posting next week though.
Again, thanks for the comments.
Looks cool so far keep going =)
Finally getting some time to work on it again. Especially with the new zbrush. Omg, it’s amazing, I love transpose.
Still a lot of work to do and anatomy to fix. Working my way down the body to get the roughs done. I can only get about an hour or so of real work each night so updates seem really sluggish to me. Wish I could devote 8hrs a day for a week or two.
A lot of problems from the knees down that I need to go back over and little things here and there that I’m not happy with. Hopefully will be able to dedicate this weekend to him.

lookin real good. Can’t wait to see him in a relaxed pose.
it’s very good WIP, IMHO the only thing not too detailes is the nose. hope ti see it posed soon
jojo75> Yeah, I’ve been debating if that type of nose was a good design decision. It’s different than what I want now but don’t want to go and redo it. We’ll see how it looks when I get to texturing.
JesseGraffam> Yeah, I can’t wait to see him in a relaxed pose either. Sitting at a bar, having a nice cold one. Just relaxing and thanking me for finally finishing the project.
a little work on the torso tonight…

Ugh… so I started learning the subtools and other features tonight. But I found a couple of bugs. This is the one that irks me the most.

The smart resym is not finding my points for some reason. Also the masking wasn’t carrying over to the other side through mirroring. So the work that I was doing on one side wasn’t coming over on the other even though my cursor would show up on the other side as if it was mirroring. That when I tried to use the Smart Resym and it failed also. Just kept saying, Symmetry Result: 0%Symmettry points found.
Shut down, restarted and it still did it.
I have no clue how to update it now to read the information to read it to the other side.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Your character is coming out great man! I think for the smart resym you need to do it to the lowest geometry then work your way up. Example:
Go to lowest level of geometry > resym > smart resym
Repeat above steps for each subdivision…maybe you already know this, but for me it works great.
Hey kyphur, it’s cool to see you up hear. It’s dennis from CGTalk. But here I’m denni5. Someone beat me to my name. Hey my thread is right by yours in the main forumn. We’re neighbors. I like this character youre working on. That sucks about the mirroring problem youre having. I hope someone will know how to fix that.
I’m curious, was this model brought in from Max or any other 3d app? Maybe the pivot need to be adjusted in that program. I’m just guessing though.
I really like how this model is progressing. It’s going to look really good when youre done, you can already tell.
dennis
Leif3d: Yeah, smart resym fails miserably. I’ve started a thread on the troubleshooting forum and it seems a lot of people are having it to where it looses it’s center pivot and they cannot get it to realign.
If you’re interested, here’s the link to that thread.
Denni5: Yeah, cool to see you here man! It’s no big deal about the character, I just went back one increment and reimported the geometry and picked up where I left off. Not a whole lot lost but there were some cool features coming out that I wanted to keep. Oh well.
Started bringing in peices of the armor… going to rebuild some of it in zb3 with the mesh extraction.
