Your first sculpt! Damn, and I thought I was doing well… awesome stuff, look forward to the texturing

RawSunlight - Its not my first sculpt, its my first using only Zbrush. Most of the time I’d build a base mesh in XSI, this is the first time I retopologized an all Zsphere model. Sorry for the mix up. I’ve been working in Zbrush for about 5 years now so dont get discuraged. Thanks for the support

I like all the details so far. The proportions seem right. I really like the head covering. I think the clay render is lit very well. Nice work so far!

I finally cleared my plate, and I’ve had a couple of day to work on some personal portfolio models, after finishing up the VFX on Ice Road Terror I’ts still this work in progress, I’m adding ears , I’ll be post a paint over of were I’m thinking off going with it, I think he needs more detail to his cowl, stitching etc. I need to get the surfacing of the cowl to feel more like old retched leather, and add minor decoration, maybe a human skull hanging around his neck and facial hair.

Any crits are welcome as I really want to push this character as far as it can go, modelling, texturing and design wise before it comes back for animation

I really want to get the cowl to feel like its got some weight, I’ve also added some shoulder Armour and temp strap in order to de-symmetrize the model more, I feel he needs some necklace and some sort of brooch, all be it an evil on his cowl. I’m not happy with cowl texture, and something about the white version looks pretty good, I might be cray. Any crits are welcome.

really nice texturings~!

I’m pretty happy with the face texturing but I feel the cowl still needs work, I’m testing different color ways as I’m not too happy with the brown leather on flesh color.

I think I’m getting a lot closer with the drapery, still need lots of work, I shot some great reference while down in LA for SIGGRAPH, I went to the Getty, and photographed this amazing roman era sculpture, of old man winter

his cloak is not made from the same material, as heavy cloth doesn’t wrinkle the same way as leather but all the same, it fantastic drapery reference.

nice sculpt. could you post a quartered turn view of the painted model like the ones at the top.

Looking decent man. I think its time to move to another piece of rendering software to check out some different lighting situations, or into photoshop to touch it up a bit in terms of lighting and dof.
Looks good though. Looking forward to more sculpts.

jawa64- Here are the right/lefts side with with texturing on the cowl , the drapery in the the leather is starting to get there, it still doesnt feel like leather yet, and the manufacturing is way off. you really need to feel that you can see how something was made.

Siah- thanks man, Ill be taking then beast into Maya for the full SSS FG Area light treatment once I’m completely happy with the model in Zbrush. I want this model to read completely physically believable through GEO and texturing alone before I go in for any shader/lighting work, If you have any crits about structure form or design I’d love to hear them. Thanks again.
