Changing and storing default brush presets

I’ve been using Z for about 2 years now, and have custom palettes and all my prefs set the way I like them to autoload.

The one thing I’m not sure of is how to save brush presets so they can load automatically. For instance, Smooth’s z intensity is always set to 100 as default and Move is set to 25 as default. I’m not sure what use either is at those levels, so every time I load ZB i have to change smooth to around 10 and Move is always at 100 for me. Likewise with Ram, standard, and some custom brushes I have.

So my question is, is there a way to change the z intensity of a brush and save some config file or brush preset file so that it’ll always load up the way I like them?

Thanks for the help, all.

change the brush to the settings you want. IE smooth down to 10 and then hit the save as button in the brushes panel. Find the smooth brush default in the Zbrush directory, then save over the old one. rinse, repeat

Thanks so much goast, this is exactly what I needed and it works like a charm.

This idea came to mind immedietly after I posted my question, but I was having a difficult time finding the right folder.

It was program files\pixologic\zbrush3\zdata\brushpresets

I thought it might be in ZStartup or in another brushes folder.

So if I copy the folder and paste it into any other computer I use with zbrush, it will overwrite the files and my presets should load.

Thanks for your help again, and I wanted to put the directory so anyone else with this question will know the path easily.

For the record, it is BAD NEWS to modify the contents of the ZData folders. Many elements of ZBrush depend upon the ZData contents being EXACTLY as they were on a fresh installation. Changing the ZData folder in any way is asking for unexpected behavior.

What you should do is use the ZStartup folders for your custom content. This is what they were designed for, and provided you keep the contents of each folder at under 25 items you will not risk harming ZBrush.
