Changes in maya 2012 with displacement map setup

There used to be an issue with maya and zbrush displacement after maya 2008 came out-something to do with the ccmesh addition–marcotronic and Scott Spencer had melscript solutions that converted it to the previous method fixed the seams(though making the displacement lose some detail).

But now as I am working with a mesh and scene made in 2009 and imported into 2012(and the displacement map applied in that version) I am getting the seams again. I assume its an issue with maya because the maps I had worked in previous maya versions. In zbrush I have tried using adaptive sampling smooth uvs mid sent to 0 (that was what was recommended for 32 bit) border at 1 and 8

In maya I have spatial
3 min
max 5
010

so far cant get rid of the seam.

There’s also an issue with the map appearing too harsh–the indentations and raised surface seems a bit too pronounced.

I notice when generating a map in zbrush 4 and bringing it into maya-the alpha offset no longer has to be set to half the gain-its left at 0.

I am not able to get Goz to work so I am doing the maps manually.
Anyway know what might be happening?
I tried the old fix script but it didnt appear to work.

I assume its related to the intensity of the map so I will look at that-since the overall map is too strong-must be causing the texture edges to show

Hmm the trouble is related to the scene file
somethingis different between maya 2009 and 2012

and its causing weirdness
I did a clean scene test and no seams

I hate this kind of detective work
