Why did you choose a fascist for reference pictures? There are many more bodybuilders out there that could be helpful to create a Conan character.
Maybe because Conan is connected to Arnold Schwarzenegger? And why is he fascist?
At the beginning of the thread I said that this was done initially for the Hardcore Modeling Challenge on CGTalk. One of the challenge requirements was to keep a likeness to the actor playing the role. Ergo…
Anolu,
Speaking only for myself, I don’t believe that this forum is an appropriate place for name calling. This is a place about art, specifically sculpture, so post some of your work and let some of the masters here look at what you can actually produce.
The only place for something like this on these forums is in a PM. All public posts should be kept to the subject of the artwork involved. If you don’t have something constructive to post, then please don’t post. Thanks
i’m a huge arnold fan…conan imho, was one of his best! great likeness. keep up the kick-ass work…
You should send a copy of this to A’nold, I think he would be thrilled!! LOL
Fabulous work. Thanks for the progression so we can all see this as it came to be finished. It was a very inspirational journey!
OMG…that’s rare…this is a letteropener I bought for like…5 years ago…it’s just like that sword

Great job man!
could you explain how you achieved that fur in ZB ?
Haven’t thought about Conan in a while now!
I assume you mean the fur cloth around his waist. In the Lightwave rendering, it was the plugin Sasquatch lite which had some good fur effects. But in the ZBrush rendering, the fur waist covering was just an open cylinder moved into the basic shape with a wolf fur texture applied to it. Subdivide that a few times to a hi amount, then mask the model using the fur’s texture intensity. Then just start pulling away from the mesh with the move brush. The mask will allow you to only pull out the lighter hair from the mesh. Does that make sense?
many thanks for that , i am just doing a caveman and i needed a way to make the clothing i will try out that wolf texture, is that in the alphas?
