I’m trying to sharpen my topology skills up. I’m not finding a lot of resources on the net or books that really dig into the tips and tricks behind it. I want to learn and understand it better. I have Scott Spencer’s Character Creation book and it describes it a little bit.
Some of the base meshes people have shared around here and the CGsociety. The precise complex topo layouts are quite humbling. For example the topology on the ears and crimp in the corners of the eyes on Marshu Mishu’s “CGgirl2.obj” that was shared on cgsociety. Absolute perfection. I use the nose topo layout from that head a lot on most of my humanoid heads, but the ears- wow… forget about it. I cant seem to retain the complex poly play used there and I’ve yet to adapt/develop my own version of it that can play in the same ball park. So is there anything out there- net, book, or video that really discusses the dynamics of topology and those tips and tricks at length so it can be mastered- no matter what kind of shape constraint might be involved?
