CG Challenge XVII: Master and Servant Winners Announced

[attach=13835]final.jpg[/attach]
Grand Prize Winner: Krishnamurti M. Costa (Antropus)

After two months of suspense while the artists shared their developing works, the results are finally in and a winner has been announced in CGTalk’s “Master & Servant” challenge. Artists were given great freedom in what form the master/servant relationship could take, and how emotions should be conveyed. Quoting from CGTalk, “The depth of feeling and the power of the relationship as portrayed by the image was the primary goal of this challenge. Participating artists had to demonstrate clarity of thought and emotion in their finished images.”

[Kris Costa](http://cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/entry.php?challenger=6031) (also known as Antropus here at ZBC) was the winner, with ZBrush figuring heavily into the creation of the scene. Kris was extremely generous with [sharing his techniques](http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=025220) here at ZBC as the project developed. This is actually the second contest that Kris has won at CGTalk while using ZBrush, with the previous being [his entry](http://pixologic.com/zbrush/interviews/images/costa_winner.jpg) in the Machineflesh Challenge. Three of the eight runners-up in the 3D Category also used ZBrush in the creation of their images: [Monsit Jangariyawong](http://cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/entry.php?challenger=5697), [Damir G.Martin](http://cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/entry.php?challenger=5918) and [Ralf Stumpf](http://cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/entry.php?challenger=7475)([ZBC Thread](http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=25491&page=1&pp=15) ), with [Dimitris Liatsos](http://cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/entry.php?challenger=5842)([ZBC Thread](http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=025563)) receiving an Honorable Mention. Many other entrants incorporated ZBrush into their workflows, as well. We will be posting [interviews](http://pixologic.com/zbrush/interviews/artist_interviews.html) with some of the participants very soon. Please join us in congratulating all the winners in this very exciting CGNetworks challenge!

Your work is always inspiring us. Keep doing it.

I´m just curious how this “church window” works. I only see a golden number in red square. What rules are inside?

You have some great imagination :+1:

Antropous your work is really great. Winning two consecutive constests is a remarkable accomplishment.

Having said that, I am skeptical about these “composition lines” that you post, as if to justify your work to some unknown elite, and to confound others into a state of blind worship.

Come on! These lines are entirely arbitrary.

These composition lines are inexplicable, unnecessary and are completely fabricated. In short, I think they are bunk. You do great work, you don’t need to overqualify it by making completely arbitrary lines that illustrate your “compositional brilliance” :rolleyes: …

(Yeh yeh and I know my golden ratios, I know the red box is supposed to represent the division at 1.628… The division of the characters fall into these. Accepted. The rest are simply confounding lines to confuse and bewilder … bunk!) :lol:

I think all they do is attempt to separate you from the ranks of equally competent artists who do not fabricate their genius.

So let’s keep it real… eh?

Yeah man. You are completely right. Everything I do is BS and fabricated. I’m glad that someone like you came to tell the true. Now I’m curious to see some of your work/techniques/workflow. Maybe you can teach something new to all of us that are simple artists trying to understand how things work. As this lines were used for comp purposes since 1500 and this knowledge is still in use in many art schools, I’m really curious to hear more about your comments and understand better your reasons. Show us your work and the way you do it, as I’m doing here to help others and we can make comments about it if you don’t mind, maybe putting some more BS and pseudo-elite knowledge to it :+1:
Let’s talk about the “real” thing, the real reasons for your pointless comments here and let’s the BS for mediocre artists like me. Instead of spend your time writing your text, maybe will be better if you try to understand the subject about what you are talking about, because your comments add nothing to my thread and because I know about my own researches. Bring your arguments, images, texts instead of insinuations and other people can “maybe” learn something from a good discussion, not from a pointless post like yours.

Best,
Kris
