Centering subtool problem

I’ve had this issue before in previous versions and I’m sure I had fixed it it then. However after upgrading to the glorious 4r6:+1: this problem has returned. Which is: When framing on mesh it centers in what looks like a random point. Framing once again centers on another “random” point. Framing once more and the mesh disappears never to be seen again. Sometimes switching to another subtool and framing will “find” the mesh but when that doesn’t work I’ll have to switch to a completely deferment tool and center, then switch back. I’ve found that exporting the subtool giving me trouble and appending it back in will fix for awhile.
Also, when the tool does center it’s pivot is somewhere else so when you rotate the mesh it appears to zoom in and out. I have tried turning local transform on and off. Please some one tell me I’m stupid for not turning on or off the feature causing this!

one more note
I noticed there is two origin locators when I turn floor on. One centered on the floor and another a few units below that one

Do you have the Perspective button turned on? Sometimes I’ve had weird framing results with that turned on.

Thanks DLangley, I’ll play around with that next time it happens. I ended up appending all the subtools into an older version of the same tool and re saved. This cured the problem but I hate not knowing what caused it. Strange that when switching between the versions of the same tool the placement and scale changed on the screen but the subtools lined up properly when appended.
