Centering objects on axis

I’ve just started learning ZBrush and i’m having trouble keeping everything lined up correctly. I am trying to place several subtools on a long shaft (for a battle axe), so i rotate the shaft into place while holding shift so it “snaps” horizontal, then i draw my action line for the piece i want to move and try to move it.
The problem is that the action line only stays straight in one axis, so while looking at the Z axis the piece looks like its sliding straight, but when i look at it from the Y axis the action line is actually crooked. I cant seem to get an action line drawn that is actually straight on a hypothetical grid, and thats making my parts slide all over the place. Is there a way to ‘snap’ a piece to an axis? Like if i have a cylinder that is slightly off-center can i snap it into place so the center of the cylinder is centered on X,Y?

I’m used to woking in 2d with photoshop and Zbrush feels completely unintuitive compared to photoshop

Try turning on symmetry. You can even use multiple symmetry axes for control along more than one direction.

Or you could use the Offset feature found in the Deformation palette.

The deformation tools worked great! Thanks for the pointers!:+1:
