Centering and Orienting object in space

Hi All,

I’ve had problems with importing geometry from elsewhere and it’s not centered in space or positioned properly. I finally discovered Unify, which nicely centered some scan data I had.
However, the scan was not facing forward in the condition I received it in. Is there a way to correct it in Zbrush. Previously, I’ve had to send it to Maya, do the corrections, Freeze Modifications, etc, and then send it back.

Thanks for help.

Axis plug helps make sure you’re looking at the front  geometry:deformation:rotate on desired axis .

Thanks, but that seems like a great way to snap to various views.

My issue is that when I snap to front view for instance, I am not looking at the actual front of the face. The geometry actually needs to be reoriented so that it matches the proper views.

Tool > Deformation > Rotate

Axis helps with this, because you can view from the front, then rotate your tool (on the y axis, for example) so that the it’s oriented properly.

Ohhhhh, thanks guys!

Somehow I never got it into my head that a rotation via deformation would be different than rotating via the cursor. Sorry, I come from traditional sculpture so I guess I has a mental block.

That menu and the Tool>Geometry that it also lead me to have enlightened me. I really appreciate it!
