Cavity Maps Inside of ZB?

Hey guys I was just wondering if there was a way to create cavity maps straight from Zbrush, just like the create displacement map.

I know the older versions of ZB with Zmapper used to have that option. I was just wondering if this one can, or if anyone has a process of doing so, instead of exporting the normal map and converting it to a cavity map in xnormal.

Or if anyone has a better workflow, please share! Thanks

Hey there,

it’s actually pretty straight forward in R3. Just look under the masking tab. There you can find all the controls to create a cavity map. Play with the settings and hit “Mask By Cavity”. After that ZB creates an alpha that can be exported out for rendering in another package.
Just be patient when you are working with high Poly counts that map could take some time

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that quick response! I will def. try it out, I had a feeling there was a setting for cavity maps somewhere, just didnt know where to look.
