Cat-Crab

Hy friends,

it`s me again…

some days ago, i had the chance to take some pictures of a wonderful “misumena vatia”, a yellow crab-spider.

Really liked the photos and decided to pimp her…

This time, i only did the “texturing” of the arms in Zbrush…Rest is 3dsmax Rendering. The Spider is taken with Nikon D70, Tamron 180mm

i attached another shot of her, just to let you see, how beautiful she is.

A real nice spider! :+1:

what a cool looking spider
science channel is gonna end up doing a nano machines show based on this stuff

These are magnificent images Thomas. Your photography is really impressive in and of itself, but the combination with your 3D is really unbelievable.

I’d love to hear more about your photo techniques. Is this all shot handheld?

Jaime

thanks for your words,

well, about the technique…

The picture is shot out of hand, without any additional voodoo, exept a big flash, which produces the extrem sharp image. The flash is not mounted on the camera. I use a cable and a self-build soft-box (old shoe-box with alu-paper inside) to diffuse the hard flash.

It`s taken on ISO 200, f 16, 1/60 sec at 180mm Makro 1:1

here is a high-res image of native resolution:
