Casting shadows on other objects

Hey can someone explain how to have one subtool to cast a shadow on another subtool I have a figure which is a detailed subtool, and i have him standing on a terrain which has been sculpted and is another subtool. Now how do I get the figure to cast a some-what long shadow of himself onto the terrain model?
Ive been messing around with the lights and render setting but it doesnt give me a detailed shadow, I looking for a shadow the type youd see of yourself if you were stading outside on a sunny day on the wall or in case the ground. I kind of want this done in zbrush but if theres a better way using photoshop id be willing to hear that way as well thank you very much,

First, you can’t use a MatCap material for any object receiving the shadow. The reason for this is that MatCaps use built-in light maps and so don’t respond to scene lighting.

In the Light>Shadow menu, turn on ZMode. Use the large thumbnail in the Light palette to adjust the position of the light relative to the objects. Turn Render>Shadows on and do a Best render. Once you’re satisfied with the rough lighting, go back to the Light>Shadow menu and adjust the Rays/Aperture settings. The more rays you have, the lower the aperture will need to be for the shadows to be distinct. If you notice the shadows are getting cut off, increase the Length setting.

Thanx I found a shadow tutorial like right after i posted I should totally look before i asklol but thanx for the respnse you da man
